As Director of Business Technology, you will drive the next generation of financial platforms at the intersection of finance, engineering, and technology, requiring both visionary leadership and deep technical expertise. You’ll be responsible for the financial platforms that underpin our complex revenue streams—from multi-format ad marketplaces to SaaS offerings and consumer transactions. You’ll work cross-functionally with Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, and Commerce Engineering teams to ensure financial accuracy, drive innovation, and support Yelp’s expanding business and product lines.
You'll lead a diverse team, including Oracle specialists, data engineers, and business systems analysts distributed across the US, Canada, and the UK. With most of your time shaped by strategic vision and long-term planning, and the remainder focused on operational excellence, you’ll have the chance to define and implement transformative strategies especially related to AI/ML for data analysis and anomaly detection. Develop and drive a multi-year technology strategy for Yelp’s financial systems, with particular focus on integrating AI/ML for data analysis, reporting, planning, and anomaly detection.
Lead multiple software development teams in architecting financial solutions at scale, ensuring systems support Yelp’s diverse and growing business, including complex revenue and billing models.
Inspire, coach, mentor, and support your team members fostering both their day-to-day success and long-term professional growth.
Facilitate technical conversations and critical decision-making around architecture and data flow with finance and engineering leaders, balancing priorities of compliance, risk, and business needs.
Identify and execute on key initiatives to continuously improve financial system architecture, data flows, integration standards, and SOX compliance practices.
Partner directly with executive leadership, including VPs and the CFO, aligning technology strategy with immediate and future business needs—challenging assumptions and driving innovation where needed.
Hire and build a high-performing, inclusive team that reflects Yelp’s values, ensuring a fun, diverse, and growth-minded engineering culture.
Proven platform experience delivering new features and products through high-performing teams, with a strong solutions architecture background in complex financial environments (e.g. Oracle, Anaplan, and Zuora).
Hands-on experience in software engineering and leadership, including architecting major systems,coaching and growing highly capable teams of engineers and analysts, and their managers.
Technical depth in making architectural and design decisions for scalable, compliant financial platforms. Skilled at evaluating trade-offs between time-to-market, flexibility, and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrated ability to influence executive decision-makers and align diverse stakeholders.
History of creating and executing long-term technical vision, with proven examples of product or infrastructure roadmaps you have established that delivered incremental and long-term business value.
Experience working with Agile methodologies in regulated financial system environments, maintaining data integrity and SOX compliance within fast-paced, iterative development cycles.
Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of AI/ML and its practical application in automating, analyzing, and safeguarding financial systems at scale.
